Hello and welcome to Liv in the District — a blog created to give you a glimpse of daily life in the nation’s capitol.
This blog was inspired by many personal conversations I had with people all over the country and the world — all people who were either disillusioned with Washington or felt totally removed from what was happening in D.C.
Liv in the District is a small attempt at mending the perceived gap between Washington elite and the many citizens who live outside the beltway. The idea is to give those outside of the District a taste of life in Washington that extends beyond politics, elections, and contentious debate to provide a glimpse of one person’s ordinary life in D.C.
The blog will feature content on the latest fashion trends, hair and makeup tutorials, fitness tips, and travel tips. However, it will also extend beyond fashion to include interviews with women in Washington about their life, interests, and work.
The goal of the blog is not just to provide one person’s perspective on life in Washington, but to provide a picture of the diverse lives, callings, and character of people in D.C.
One of the challenges with life in Washington, however, is that Washington is often speaking to, or in some cases at, people outside the District. I want this blog to be a conversation between its readers and itself.
If you are interested in learning more about something, please comment below, and I’m happy to cover those questions in an Ask Liv in the District weekly column. I look forward to researching and answering any questions you have about life in Washington.
If you’ve made it this far, thank you for your interest in Liv in the District. I can’t wait to share this new adventure together!
